Trailblazer: Coral P.

During the pandemic, I walked around my neighborhood, playing my ukulele to cheer people up.

I love being creative.

Hi! My name is Coral and I am 13 years old. I live in Seattle, Washington, with my mom, dad, older sister, and older brother. I also have a rabbit named Charcoal. Some of our friends found her in the forest, and now we take care of her.

In my free time, I play guitar and do art. I love being creative, and whenever I am alone, I'll create a story or game in my head. Recently I have started taking Musical Theatre classes at my school, which I really enjoy. I have a really supportive community that lets me be the best version of myself.

I enjoy doing helpful things in my community. A few things I have done so far to help are teaching children's classes with my older siblings, picking up trash at the beach, and volunteering at Teen Feed, a local organization that provides meals for unhoused teens. Although sometimes it's hard for me to get out of my comfort zone and help, it feels really good to know that I can make a difference and create happiness in my community.

I think that we can all agree that traveling is fun, and I would have to agree! I've had a huge passion for exploring new places from a very young age. I have traveled all the way across the country to Pennsylvania to see my grandparents; to California to see my cousins; England, Hawaii, and Mexico, just for the fun of it; and I will soon be traveling to New Zealand (which I've never been to before) with my grandparents which I am super excited for!

I've been using foods from my garden for meals I have been preparing for my family.

I homeschool, but also attend a Parent Partnership called Edmonds Heights, which allows me to take classes that aren't usually offered at other schools such as Musical Theatre and Karate. I also play Ultimate Frisbee at lunch with my friends, which is really fun!

I love Brilliant Star because it teaches children all over the world how to be a good person and a better Bahá’í. I am choosing to be a Bahá’í because we treat everyone equally, and never leave anyone out. I want to thank Brilliant Star for helping me to be a better Bahá’í.
