Trailblazer: Chadman N.

My name is Chadman, I am currently 14 years old, and I live in Reykjavik, Iceland. I am turning 15 quite soon and am prepared to finally take Bahá’u’lláh’s hand directly.

I continue to expand my horizons and explore new exploits. I continue to practice and perform on the piano, which I find a very enthralling undertaking. I am preparing to go to a few festivals and competitions here and elsewhere, including Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, etc. I had the immense privilege of playing with the Music Schools String Orchestra in January 2024, where I performed Bach’s piano concerto in D minor (see video here). I remain grateful for this opportunity and hope for more to come as I continue my journey. I enjoy exploring the complexities of each piece and am starting to learn more about music theory, so I can understand more about the music and why it sounds so pleasant.

My family and I went on pilgrimage in December 2019, and it was a rich experience to see the shrines and all the holy places and the city with my own eyes! It made me feel at home and at peace when I entered the home of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá at 4 Haparsim Street. We also could not believe when we entered all the holy places that Bahá’u’lláh walked in the same path that we were walking on.

I had the honour of experiencing a second pilgrimage in the summer of 2023, which was no less fascinating than my first pilgrimage. Revisiting all the holy spots, listening once more to the tales, and meeting all the wonderful people who shared unique experiences was a blessing. I came back with renewed energy and a satiated and fulfilled soul.

When I had my first view of the Shrine of Bahá’u’lláh, I could not believe I was here. It was so beautiful and majestic. I had the honour of experiencing a second pilgrimage in the summer of 2023, which was no less fascinating.

I am currently finishing 10th grade and am preparing to take IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams in a couple of subjects. I do enjoy studying and learning new things, even though I feel that memorizing for exams is quite a futile method to actually learn new information. This year has been quite stressful and still is, yet I just hope to do my best. I am certainly exuberant to go to a new school (high school) in August. The facility seems to be larger, and more subjects are offered. It will be a rigorous course, yet I am very excited to go into my youth years.

For fun, I enjoy baking and cooking newfound recipes, reading books of various genres, and listening to all sorts of music ranging from baroque, classical, and romantic to impressionistic, 20th-century, neoclassical and microtonal. I enjoy spending time with good friends in any way possible. I am hoping to take part in a summer tennis course this summer for fun, as well as preparing for a music festival in Vienna in August. I am not sure about my future career yet, even though I am looking towards a few possibilities. I just hope to live a satisfying and gratifying life.

I had the immense privilege of playing with a youth orchestra of students from four different music schools in January 2024. I performed Bach’s piano concerto in D minor.
