The Life of Bahá’u’lláh: A Treasury of Stories

The Shrine of Bahá’u’lláh near ‘Akká, Israel, is considered by Bahá’ís to be the holiest spot on Earth.

Bahá’ís around the world are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh in Persia (now Iran) in 1817. To honor this historic occasion, Brilliant Star has assembled a treasury of compelling stories about His life.

With vibrant illustrations, this collector’s edition is for readers ages 7–12, but will captivate young and old alike. In puzzles and activities, you can explore virtues related to Bahá’í beliefs, which include the importance of service to humanity, the equality of women and men, and the elimination of prejudice and racism.

A book release party and free concert with family music artist Red Grammer were held at the Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois, on October 14, 2017.

Bahá’u’lláh (“Glory of God” in Arabic) founded the Bahá’í Faith and urged all of humanity to live in peace as one family. He taught that the world’s religions are connected and come from one powerful force, like rays from one sun. Each faith was founded by a Messenger of God, such as Abraham, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad. God sends a new Messenger as humanity evolves and needs renewed divine guidance. Bahá’ís believe that Bahá’u’lláh is God’s most recent Messenger.

During His life, Bahá’u’lláh revealed over 100 books and tablets of sacred writings. Because officials wanted to stop Him, He was imprisoned, persecuted, and exiled far from His home. But He persisted in sharing His message of unity. He told us to end conflicts based on race and religion. He said that all people should be educated. He asked world leaders to stop wars. Today, these ideas are embraced by millions of Bahá’ís and by people of many faiths who work for justice and peace.

Bahá’u’lláh said, “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.” When we can see everyone on Earth as members of one human family and treat people with love, our actions build peace.

We invite kids and families to explore and discuss the stories of Bahá’u’lláh’s life and the many ways you can shine your light of love and peace in the world.
