January/February 2008: "Let Your Spirit Soar"
When you can’t see, hear, or touch something, it can be hard to understand. Scientists can explain essential things we can’t see with our naked eyes — like atoms, energy, and gravity. Love and joy are some of the most powerful forces in our lives, yet they’re also invisible.
Your spirit is invisible, too. Still, your spirit is your true reality, the most important part of you. Your spirit will live forever in this world and beyond. The Baha’i writings say that when we act in ways that lift and strengthen our spirits, we can be “truly happy.”
You can discover millions of good and noble ways to express your spirit. In this issue of Brilliant Star, you’ll meet Flora Purim, who travels the world expressing herself and spreading joy through music. You’ll learn about the King of Samoa, who earned his country’s love with kindness and humility. You’ll join a young American Indian on a quest to help his people. And you’ll find lots of ideas for helping your spirit soar.
Where will your spirit take you? Only you can decide.
Happy soaring,
Your Friends at Brilliant Star
